Beer Battered Onion Rings with Shake Shack Dipping Sauce

Shake Shack has been a favorite ours since 2007 when we were both living in NYC.

While there are a number of reasons they stand above the rest, their special sauce is a famous staple. Many recipe blogs have shared their versions and through much trial and error, we have created what we think is the best version!

Of course we didn’t forget about the onion rings. With only 4 ingredients , these circles of deep fried perfection are so much easier to make than you think! Did we mention they are beer battered?

Recipe: Shakshuka

Shakshuka has quickly become a Saturday brunch staple in our house. Often times I find myself falling asleep on Friday nights thinking “YES, tomorrow is Shakshuka day!” Trust me, it’s that good.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar, Shakshuka is a dish made with poached eggs in a spicy tomato base that was popularized in the Middle East and North Africa. It is perfect for any meal and super quick and easy to whip up.

Recipe: Roasted Red Pepper Pasta

Can you believe how quickly summer is flying by?! We apologize, our at home cooking has been a bit scarce with much traveling lately.  We are also huge fans of dining out in the summertime because we love exploring new restaurants with great outdoor seating.  And let's be honest, this summer has been HOT (even in the Bay Area) and standing over a hot stove is not ideal.  So when we do cook in the summer it's all about grilling outside or quick meals.

Lighten up an Italian favorite with this Skinny Alfredo Sauce.  Not only is this meal light, it also cooks in less than 30 mins!  Let's face it, it's summertime which means spending time over a hot stove is not ideal.  Thanks to brands like Giovanni Rana, who make refrigerated pastas that cook in under 5 minutes, we can now enjoy our favorite savory pastas all summer long!

Originally from St. Louis, Alec loves two things, the Cardinals and thin-crust pizza, STL-Style Pizza to be exact.  He always has said that no pizza compares. It drove me crazy for years trying to figure out what made this pizza so special.  A few months ago I finally got the chance to experience this magical mystery pizza I had heard so much about.  GUYS- It was so good that I couldn't believe I had missed out on it my entire life. Which is why we had to recreate it for anyone who has yet to try. Trust me, you don't want to go another day without this pizza in your life.

NACHOS!!!! 

We are obsessed with nachos and always looking for new fun ways to change them up, from BBQ pulled pork nachos to s'mores dessert nachos - we have tried them all.  

However, what are you suppose to do when you are craving nachos but also trying to stick to your New Years resolution of a healthier 2017?  The answer my friends- is cauliflower! 

Cauliflower has quickly become the new kale. All the rage, it has taken over as a replacement to those unhealthy (yet so delicious) carbs we know and love.  We have seen cauliflower everywhere, cauliflower pizza crust, cauliflower mash, even cauliflower "chicken" nuggets.  

For these Cauliflower Nachos we used cheddar cheese, red onions, sweet corn, tomatoes, pineapple salsa, sour cream, avocado and fresh cilantro.  However when it comes to toppings you can be as creative as you want! The possibilities are endless.

Happy Baking Season!!  Let me just say, I've always hated carrot cake. I've actually always disliked all kinds of cake besides cookie cake but let's be honest- that's just a giant cookie. So as you can imagine if I can't be convinced to enjoy chocolate cake it isn't likely that I will jump at the chance to eat a cake made of carrots! BUT GUYS- I've had a change of heart, or should I say change of taste? THIS recipe is the answer. This cake is so moist, perfectly spiced and the homemade frosting is everything.
