Happy Summer Friends! We apologize for our lack of new recipes. We have been traveling a TON (which is great) but we are so happy to be home and back in the kitchen!
We are thrilled to share one of our favorite summer recipes with you on National Lobster Day! Pan Seared Scallops with Parmesan Risotto and Lobster Sauce. We have to warn you, it might be a bit tricky to make but it is SO worth it.
While the weather in the Bay Area has been pretty perfect (per usual), we are both East Coast natives so we still have a couple cold weather traditions that we just can't give up. One of our favorite things to do in the winter is to cook up a big batch of homemade chili!
It's soup season!!! Eeekkk! There is literally nothing better than a bowl of homemade soup on a cold day. This Loaded Baked Potato Soup has so many rich flavors and topped to perfection with melty cheddar cheese and crispy bacon!
Apparently it's National Sandwich Day. AND it's Friday, AKA Treat yo' self! This Beer Battered Honey Chicken & Pickles Sandwich is the definition of comfort food. A mix of all the best things, beer, pickles, and fried chicken! #treatyoself
Beef Bourguignon is one of our favorite cold weather meals. And while it is not cold at all here in the Bay Area (85 degrees to be exact) this one goes out to all of our east coast friends! At least for now.
Loaded with beef and veggies and packed with rich layers of flavor, this french classic will not disappoint. From October to February, this recipe is perfect to get you through those chili nights.
You can make any weeknight dinner feel like a special occasion with Creole Style Shrimp Étouffée. We love this dish because it is so hearty and perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick.
Étouffée is a french word meaning "smothered". To make it, you literally smother the veggies and shrimp (or shellfish of your choice), with the rich creamy sauce
Back in the day I lived in the East Village of NYC right next to the smallest hole in the wall Thai restaurant that made some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had. It was so addicting that I would order it at least once a week. I never even attempted to make it at home because I didn't think anything would ever compare. UNTIL NOW!
Can you believe how quickly summer is flying by?! We apologize, our at home cooking has been a bit scarce with much traveling lately. We are also huge fans of dining out in the summertime because we love exploring new restaurants with great outdoor seating. And let's be honest, this summer has been HOT (even in the Bay Area) and standing over a hot stove is not ideal. So when we do cook in the summer it's all about grilling outside or quick meals.
t's the most wonderful time of the year, BBQ season!! With 4th of July right around the corner, party planning is in full swing.
This recipe is the best for summer entertaining because it's so easy to throw together! Both the pulled pork and the slaw require little prep time, just set it and forget it (well until it's time to serve!) Use hamburger buns to create a delicious main dish or smaller buns for party sliders! This pulled pork is also great for tacos or over nachos - trust us!
Lighten up an Italian favorite with this Skinny Alfredo Sauce. Not only is this meal light, it also cooks in less than 30 mins! Let's face it, it's summertime which means spending time over a hot stove is not ideal. Thanks to brands like Giovanni Rana, who make refrigerated pastas that cook in under 5 minutes, we can now enjoy our favorite savory pastas all summer long!
This tomato cream sauce is both easy to throw together but is a lighter option to those classic cream sauce recipes. To prepare most cream sauces, many recipes call for butter and/or heavy cream; we have omitted those and instead use olive oil and regular milk. Despite the saved calories, we promise you'll love it just as much!
Thanks to PF Chang's, lettuce wraps have become all the rage. And why not? They're not only fresh and delicious but they are guilt free! These spicy thai chicken lettuce wraps are great for lunch, dinner, or can easily be prepared as a party appetizer.
While spring has finally begun, with spring comes spring showers. Here in the Bay Area, today is one of those non-stop rainy days that makes you want to curl up with a nice bowl a soup.
French Onion Soup is a menu item we find really hard to resist. From the savory onion broth to the melted cheese flavor soaked baguette slices, we are a bit obsessed. From the looks of it, French Onion Soup can seem a bit intimidating to recreate. However, when you make this at home you will be shocked at how easy it actually is!
Spring has finally arrived and we are welcoming the warm weather with open arms! Spring is wonderful for so many reasons, especially when it comes to food. We adore working with fresh and colorful fruits and veggies when creating new recipes. From the colorful cabbage to the fresh mango - these Fish Tacos are the epitome of a spring recipe.
March 16th is National Artichoke Hearts Day so we are excited to share our copycat version of a favorite recipe!
Before ever knowing one another, Alec and I lived a block apart in the East Village of NYC and had one special thing in common, an obsession for Artichoke Basille's Pizza. For most New Yorkers, the obsession hits hard late night - perfect after a few drinks aka when you stop counting calories! The original Artichoke Pizza location opened on 14th street in 2008 and they now have 9 locations (8 in New York City, 1 here in the Bay Area!)
Apparently the recipe for Basille's signature artichoke pizza sauce takes 8 hours to make and is top secret. Ours takes about 30 mins and is not a secret! We would feel too guilty keeping this recipe from anyone.
Classic Chicken Noodle Soup aka a giant bowl of comfort. This recipe is so quick and easy you guys!
For this recipe we like to make our chicken extra tender so we can shred it up for the soup. We use a slow cooker and let the chicken cook for at least 2 hour on high or 4 hours on low. This is actually our go-to way of making chicken for any dish. Running low on time? Grab a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store, shred it up and throw it in!
When it comes to the egg noodles, we welcome them. More is better! However if you are looking for a less noodle-y soup, only add half the amount as instructed. You can also use any other kind of pasta to substitute if you don't have egg noodles.
Winter recipes might just be our favorite. We have been cooking up a ton of comfort food this winter from hearty stews to delicious baked goods - winter time is all about time spent in the kitchen.
This Creamy Chicken Pot Pie recipe has so many rich full flavors that will warm you up right away on those cold winter nights. Not only is this recipe delicious, it is actually extremely easy to whip up.
Unlike tradition pot pies, we make our chicken pot pie, pie-less. Without the crust, this recipe is all about the delicious filling you know and love. So feel free to enjoy it solo or pair it with warm buttermilk biscuits or rustic bread.
Originally from St. Louis, Alec loves two things, the Cardinals and thin-crust pizza, STL-Style Pizza to be exact. He always has said that no pizza compares. It drove me crazy for years trying to figure out what made this pizza so special. A few months ago I finally got the chance to experience this magical mystery pizza I had heard so much about. GUYS- It was so good that I couldn't believe I had missed out on it my entire life. Which is why we had to recreate it for anyone who has yet to try. Trust me, you don't want to go another day without this pizza in your life.
We are obsessed with nachos and always looking for new fun ways to change them up, from BBQ pulled pork nachos to s'mores dessert nachos - we have tried them all.
However, what are you suppose to do when you are craving nachos but also trying to stick to your New Years resolution of a healthier 2017? The answer my friends- is cauliflower!
Cauliflower has quickly become the new kale. All the rage, it has taken over as a replacement to those unhealthy (yet so delicious) carbs we know and love. We have seen cauliflower everywhere, cauliflower pizza crust, cauliflower mash, even cauliflower "chicken" nuggets.
For these Cauliflower Nachos we used cheddar cheese, red onions, sweet corn, tomatoes, pineapple salsa, sour cream, avocado and fresh cilantro. However when it comes to toppings you can be as creative as you want! The possibilities are endless.
